Millie

I have a wonderful husband for many reasons but just one of the reasons I love Mark so much is his love for dogs. Mark went out on his boat Saturday morning to plant seed for duck season and came home with a dog who was knocking on death's door. Mark and his friend first thought it was a log then realized the log was moving. Upon closer inspection, they discovered it was a dog submerged in water and stuck in the mud. They thought it had been there at least 2 days. All that was above water was her head.

We set the dog up in our laundry room and gave her Bandera's bed to lay in. I immediately named her Millie. She just looked like a Millie to me! Millie is beat up. Her ears had been torn at the ends from previous fighting, her eyes are very infected (the vet said she had burned corneas), she was flea infested (we took care of that problem fast!), she couldn't walk or stand, and she has incredible sores all over her body.

After an evening filled with carrying Millie out to go to the bathroom every 3 hours, constant loads of laundry, and feeding her Pedialyte with a syringe, she thankfully lasted through the night. Sunday we were given great news that a family vet friend would meet Mark at his clinic and try to help Millie out. Mark and Millie left with two medications, multiple shots, eye drops and two IV drips.
Millie is doing better but not as well as she should. Please keep Millie in your thoughts and prayers. She is a sweet dog who has had a terrible life in the short 8 months she has been alive. We have committed to care for Millie as best we can but now need Millie to turn a corner...and turn it fast.
