OMG!!!

While Mark was hunting on Sunday, I spent time couponing and shopping and WOW, were there some great deals to be had this weekend!!! Here is what I bought:

Want to know how much I paid for all of these lovely items? $14, yep, $14. One mascara alone costs $8 (I paid 99 cents for both)! I saved well over $100 this week - I think it's a personal record!

Mark is always happy with my savings each week but this week even he was over-the-top impressed!

Date Night

I had a wonderful date night with my husband last night! We went to see "Mary Poppins" the musical and had a delicious dinner at Hook, Line and Sinker (obviously my one cheat meal for the week since starting Weight Watchers on Monday!). For my birthday present last year, Mark gave me the opportunity to select any summer musical and he would go with me....wow, what a gift! Like Mark said last night, it was probably the LAST place anyone would ever guess he would be at that moment...not a big fan of musicals, understandably so.

I loved every minute of the musical from hearing "Just a Spoonful of Sugar" to the amazing dance that went along with "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." Mary Poppins even flew over the audience at the end of the show - it was amazing!

Mark and I had such a nice evening together. I didn't even fall asleep which is amazing considering the first act didn't end until 9:30pm! Wow!

It was an excellent birthday gift and one that will remain a happy memory for years to come!

The Dog Motel

We took care of Stetson this weekend while Anthony and Sarah Jane headed to Austin to enjoy the Texas game. Dixie was so excited to have her friend spend 2 days and nights with her. Stetson was such a good sport. He let her jump on him, drink water with him, and follow him everywhere he went. I think he looked forward to the time we left the house and Dixie went in her kennel!
Dixie was quite embarrassed though when she had to go in her kennel and when she got in trouble in front of Stetson. She ran and hid in the corner when we told her to "kennel" which she never does. Usually, she hops right in without a treat. It was pretty funny. As hard as the dogs played together, they also napped pretty hard too. Stetson would have preferred to nap alone, but Dixie wanted to snuggle up with him.

There was lots of paw-wiping and water bowl filling but it was nice to have two dogs. There was lots more sweeping and mopping though than I am used to! Here is a picture of Dixie happily sitting in the mud hole she dug while I mopped. It was not the site I really wanted to see after just putting the mop away. She was pretty pleased with herself.

I know Dixie will be very sad (and so will I) to see Stetson return home today (he got to stay an extra night with us so Anthony and Sarah Jane could go to the Cowboys game). Mark, Dixie and I love you, Stetson!

I'm crazy and so is he....

Ok, so we all know I am a little coupon crazy, but those who know Mark know he is a little crazy about duck hunting. So, I figure, we make a pretty good match!

This is all of the stuff I purchased at Walgreens this weekend for a total of $11. The shampoo alone would have cost $6. I was pretty happy with my finds!

This is Mark after getting a new duck blind. Yes, this was assembled and experimented with in our living room, you aren't mistaken. Dixie was a little hesitant to get in at first but after some encouragement, she hopped right in. Little does Miss Dixie know, she better get pretty comfy in this blind for it will be where she spends lots of time come hunting season next year!
I snapped this one without Mark knowing. He closed himself in the blind with no dog for a few minutes just to "test it out." Even Dixie was wondering where he went! Gotta love him, I sure do!!!
Together we may be a little crazy but isn't that what makes us sort of normal?!?!?

I love my parents

I have always known I have great parents, but today reminded me of that fact. I have Open House at school this evening and asked my parents if I could have dinner at their house and change clothes there before returning to school for the meeting. It would be just too far to drive to and from school to our house. My mom graciously agreed, and to be honest, I have been looking forward to tonight all week - she was even going to make one of my favorite dinners for me!

Unfortunately, I had to leave work early due to an allergic reaction to some zucchini in the soup I ate for lunch. I immediately ran into the school office and told them I was "going to my Mom's" and left. I was lucky enough to sleep off the pain, wake up to have some quality time with my parents (and get to check out the awesomeness of their new bed), and eat a more tummy-settling dinner.

There is just something about going home that makes me feel all better! I love you, Mom and Dad!!!

I LOVE couponing!

I made a quick trip to CVS this morning to get some shopping done before all the deals were gone. Just have to brag....

I spent $11.57 and saved $35.51....WOW!!!!!!

What did I get for a mere $11.57? 4 cans of (Weight Watcher friendly) soup, 2 bags of Hershey Kisses, a value pack of peanut butter crackers (perfect for Mark's hunting trips), 2 value packs of Orbit gum (6 packs total), an Airwick starter kit, a package of razors, and 2 cans of Edge shave gel.

Not to shabby if I do say so myself!

Side note: Does it make be obsessed when I get up earlier than I need to in order to go to the gym, shower, go to Starbucks, and stop at the store to do a shop before going to work at 8am??? Hmmm.......

Side note 2: Is my husband an enabler when he calls me at 9am to tell me he bought me a present I am going to love??? A Dallas Entertainment Guide full of area retailer coupons.... Yep, he loves me :)

It's been awhile...

I know, it's been awhile since I posted (work blocked the site!). Dixie is getting bigger and bigger each day. She is really testing us to see who is boss - she is pretty good at knowing Mark is the boss but tests me often! She has been playing with her new friend, Cali (Becky and Doug's dog), and with Stetson (Anthony and Sarah Jane's dog). She also went on a hunting trip with Mark last weekend and retrieved her first birds. According to Mark (the proud dog dad), Dixie was pretty proud of herself!

Here are some recent pictures of Dixie and Stetson at Jeanie and Wally's (Stetson's grandparent's) house...
Mark introduced Dixie to his latest and greatest goose decoys. She wasn't so sure what to think about them. She chased them, barked at them, and tried to knock them off their stands. It was hysterical!!! This picture is of a calm Dixie after doing some "wild dog" runs around the geese for a good 20 minutes. She was pooped!!!

We are babysitting Stetson this weekend so I am sure we will get some great pictures of the dogs together.
